This may seem like a stupid question but are the RV covers of different year 787's interchangeable?

I have to get a replacement RV cover for my 97 GSX, Bombardier part number 290810738 (from parts manual anyways). I get more hits just searching for 787 rotary valve cover than by the part number.

Also as a follow up to that... When looking for a cover, is there anything to look out for other than deep gouges? Is slight grooves on the engine side acceptable? This is my first RV intake machine so not sure what is and isn't normal.

Thanks

You just need to get to know the right people lol
There are locals in Canada that have parts too.
But I get parts from Nick at westside as well when it's something hard to find.

So far for the carbed 787, the rv cover is the same. Look for one that isn't smooth. One that has the vertical scrape marks is what your looking for.
Why do you need to replace yours ?
And what price range were you thinking ?
So far in finding around 70$ cad total with shipp and import fee.

Is that refurb or used? That's in the ballpark of what I'm seeing on eBay.

Reason for change is because I got this thing on the cheap because owner couldn't get it to stop running away. Compression was good so I bit. Redid all fuel lines, cleaned filter, selector, etc... And rebuilt the carbs.

When I went to put it back I realized one of the carb mount bolt holes was stripped. I drilled and helicoiled it.. idled fine.

Got new base gaskets and after installing them it wanted to take off again. Realized the helicoil wasn't %100 true so if that bolt wasn't tightened first the carb wouldn't seal. If I tighten it first it's ok. So I'm now debating whether riding it like that is asking for trouble and I should just replace the cover.

Replace... for that price for piece of mind it's worth it. I've had mine pull a coil out in the past as well. Just from trying to acheive proper torque.

All that I found were used on eBay.
