Friend of mine hydrolocked his 1997 GTX 787. I took out spark plugs and pumped water out. Im sure water got pass the rings. How do i drain the crankcase. I can seem to find the drain and fill plug. Based on other forums, i found where i think fill on back of the engine on the port side. But there does not seem to a slot for removal. Or am i looking in the wrong place? Or do i need to pull the engine to get to the drain?

You're in the wrong forum... This side is for four stroke. But I'll give you a hand as I just went through this.

You need to follow the procedure for changing the counterbalance shaft oil. I think if you find the maintenance manual it is listed there with some instructions and photos/diagrams. But basically, there is a plastic cover over the crank at the engine side closest to the jet pump. Remove that plastic cover by removing the two plastic wing nuts and washers holding it in place. It is mounted to that black motor mount in your picture. Then there is a small set screw near the bottom of the crank case down there. Using a #5 allen key go ahead and remove that set screw and let the water and oil drain out. This set screw is a bitch to find so if you want to take some photos down there I can point it out to you. Then on this post you can see the plastic oil reservoir cap:

Go ahead and put 30ml of SAE 30 oil in there after replacing the set screw. I actually flushed it by running about 70ml through the case with the set screw open, then closed it up and added 30ml more. All the water in the crank case will get burned up... It's a two stroke so there's no oil pan down there. However the counterbalance shaft is so far from the cylinders that the water will live in there indefinitely, eventually rusting your counterbalance shaft bearing, and ending with a blowout on the crank case.

Joe,

Thank you. I am struggling to find the drain plug at the back side of the engine. Attached is a picture of compression sprint at the back port side of the engine. Is this anywhere near the drain plug?

You can't change or drain on a 95 and 96 787. They didn't put them in till 97. So, get it running and run it hard as long as you can to dry it out. If you look in my sig lines and look at my restos you will see that I add them to my cases when I rebuild the engines.
