So I finally finished break in where i can do full throttle runs now.
Up top feels flat. It feels like theres no difference between 3/4 throttle and WOT.
My plugs are a nice dark brown, theres is no bogging whatsoever, and the engine is Very smooth, so i dont think its a lean issue.
Ive installed a voltmeter and my voltages are fine while riding, so I dont think its an overcharging issue.
Everything feels fine, just feels like its lacking. I had a 94 sp years ago, and i cant remember what it felt like.
Im thinking this is just characteristic of the small 587. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks in advance.

Some further thinking, could this be caused by running a little rich?
I just started my first tank of straight gasoline, was running premix with the injection for break in, and now my idle seems a little lower, and i feel like when I would do short bursts of WOT during break in there was some difference between WOT and below.
Thanks for any thoughts

The 587 is somewhat flat up top. As long as those plugs aren’t black I don’t think a little rich would cause it. The 587 is semi quick out of the hole and you think it’s going to zoom off but it does just as your describing.

On a side note the 720 feels the same way, especially after riding the 800.

A friend of mine used to say the exact same thing about his 720. He also had a 96 gsx 800 . He would ride his 720 and day man it takes off and comes on plane and up to speed but it feels like it flattens out up top. That’s all it had. The 587 is very similar except its obviously slower. It will top out fairly quick and leave u feeling there should be more.
