5837 or 5842???

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. I live in Yuma, AZ and like riding up and down the Colorado River. I recently purchased two 1998 Seadoo GTX Ltd's and now I'm starting to learn how to work on them. Today I found out there are 2 different models or engines for this GTX. I have been searching the internet and this forum all morning yet can't find what the difference is between 5837 and 5842. Does anyone know the difference and how I can identify which ones I have? Thanks!

Based on my understanding (and I am not 100% sure where I learned this, so hopefully I am not spreading false info) they are the exact same. The reason for the two models was in the early days they manufactured them in Canada and in the USA so the model number differentiated the country of origin. Specs are the same, engine is the same.

There is no difference in the 98 GTX engines, they are both silver 951's.

The only one that was ever different is the 1997-1/2 GSX that had the white 951.
