3D Di Speed

Hi everyone!

Just brought a second hand 3D Di with 50hrs on it! all in good condition!
Was wondering tho.... how fast should this ski go in it's stock form?

I may be wrong but I am thinking 60+ if it has the 951 in it :cheers:

yeah its the 951.....60+ really?

See.. that's what I thought but mine seems to only get to 54!

It takes off like a rocket but tops out quickly!

And its revving pretty hard so it does not sound like it laboring or struggling!

Not sure whats going on here...

It does have a 13/19 Dynafly impeller in it, would anyone consider that as being under propped?

Seadoo speedometers or are notorious for being a bad judge at your actual mph's, test it with a GPS, it might be a miscal. It also could be the impeller, that pitch sounds like its more for holeshot and acceleration, which could be why your losing top end.

I did however check that with a GPS (3D does not have a speedo or tacho)

I Have been doing a bit of a ring around as well for my problem and another idea that popped up was to check the wear ring to see if It has the correct clearance - less than 1mm....

if there is a bit too much clearance in my wear ring could it really cause such huge loss in speed?

Just an update!

I am going to change the wear ring tonight and test my 3D tomorrow...

If this fixes of helps my problem I will let you all know!

just another update guys!

Changed my impeller to a Solas Concord 15/20 - Wear ring was good so did not bother changing that!

I noticed that in the pump housing there are 3 veins that have pieces missing out of them!

How much of a difference would something like this make to the performance of my ski?

Any help is appreciated!

my 05' 3D max out 55mph..using garmin gps.

bonestock, maybe i can get few more mph if i tweak it more, i know i have some knick knack on my impeller and didn't trim the jet yet...

Yeah, mine tops out at around 54-55...I was under the impression that if it went faster than 60mph, then you had to have a spedometer. Anyone know the ruling on this for sure?
