2004 seadoo gtx wake fault code problem

Well I purchased my first pwc four days ago. I took it out on the water for the first time since my test drive. While driving, my lcd screen had a check engine and the red light flashes. I pressed the set button five times and it gave fault code p1509 (lake temp circuit out of range). My lcd screen gives a lake temp read out that was identical to a friends pwc display. The only articles I've read mention replacing the speedo but having trouble justifying that since they seem to read right. Other than the annoyance of the alarm can that cause any damage or how to I repair it? I'm calling the dealership where I bought it from but wanted to get ideas beforehand. Thank in advance
