Hi all. Bought 2 jetskis a few weeks ago. The second one is a 2003 GTI (780CC???) 3 seater. I put it in the water and started it up and it ran great.

After 45 mins of ride time, I took a break for about 15 minutes, then tried to restart and it didn't turn over (FYI, it beeped when I put the key in, and I heard a click when I hit the start button, but no turn over). Kept trying, and after about 10 mins, it finally turned over and started right up. Ran it for another 45 mins, took a break, and same problem.

Ther battery seems fine, so could this be a starter issue? Someone mentioned that there could be a "dead spot" ..... whatever that means. Onlu other thing I can hypothesize is an overheating problem?

Any suggestions on what to try first?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bad connection or bad battery.Put a new battery in. Check that you have a good ground connection. Just cause you get a beep doesn't mean your battery is good

Thanks wtrgrl.

I am hoping it is just a bad connection or battery. I will try to clean the connections and test the battery this weekend. Hopefully one of those will do the trick since they are easy. If not, I will assume it is the starter and will likely have to bring it to a shop.

What is funny is that I had no issue when I first out it in the water (i.e. it turned over every time I pressed start). Then it went dead after running it an shutting it down, and did not work for several minutes before working again. To me, that does not seem like a battery issue since it would not have started to work again. So, my best guess is the connections.

I have the same ski and it seems that it does that every once in a while but I also bought a portable battery charger that I keep in the truck never know when you may need it or help another person with a dead battery. I don't think it is a dead spot but more of a point in the compression of the engine that makes it hard to push over that edge until the pressure is released. Sometimes just letting it sit a few minutes helps.
