2003 Sea Doo Sportster 3 wires coming from harness to bilge pump

I have a 2003 Sea Doo Sportster and I sat down today to wire in a float switch for my bilge pump. I believe the 600GPH pump that is installed isn't the original one. I noticed that the harness leading to it has 3 wires. Brown, Brown with a white stripe and a black. The black is not being used (it is taped off). I figured the black would be the ground but apparently that ins't the case? The switch in the console is just a 2 way on off switch so I am curious as to what the other wire is. Does anyone have an answer for me?
