Just bought it, 99.1 hours, looks like new, guys other stuff looked mint and I had good reference on guy.

States winterized last year, year before had some running issues when first took it out, felt bad gas.

I took it out, 3/4 tank fuel-old. First 25 minutes only go 10 mph, then slowly it would hit and take off, then back to 10 mph, over and over then finally ran about 50 mph. After few miles running wot it would take off and go 63 mph, left couple friends ride and they said hey it all the sudden kicks in like you have extra cylinder. Check engine light start coming on with loud single beep, unplug key and ride more and it would come on again.

Home, new NGK plugs and 5 gallons high test and Marine Stabil, ran 14 miles and light and beep came on only when i was idling in to load up, took off again and rode 5 miles, did not come on again. But would only go about 54 mph.

To dealer, tech says oil sensor but of course that has nothing to do with speed,he says oil looks dirty, smell like gas or fogger in oil? I'm geting oil change and new sensor Thursday.

Back to lake, fill up high test and more Marine Stabil, still only 53 or less mph on pretty smooth water, 51 or 52 with rider. 3 riders on ski, total 460 pounds, on 72 inch tube with 165 rider. No way, will no pull over 10 mph, wife said thought smelled gas and alot more exhaust/steam from rear. Got rid of 3rd rider and it pulled out of the hole very slow, finally got up to speed but it's not happy. Got rid of second ski rider and pulled little slow but pull tube 40 mph, but when you let off it was slow to recover. No check engine light.

Today only code I got of dash was P-1681, "display message missing", this thing acts like it's running on 2 cylinders. The intake is clean, it see maybe one little chip/mark on the impeller. This ski ran all of it's 99.1 hours before me in the cleanest lake in WV.

I thought I would check all the fuses tonight, This machine looks like new and starts very easy. I have rode it 40 miles easy and it likes the gas in my opinion, I run it wot alot but it uses alot more than I thought.

I will add the ski runs at 7400-7600 rpm, when it running wot and trying to pull the tube.

I just took a closer look at the front and rear of the impeller, looking from front to back, laying under ski looking up through grate, I see several small impact marks on the blades I see from that view one 1 to 1 1/2 inch place on wear ring looks like it's gouged out, like something got in there. there is one small dent in the impeller from theis veiw, about a 1/8" across dent.

Between the wear ring and the black housing, now looking through the rear from back, it looks like some rubber squeezed out between the black housing and the wear ring, I guess this is the seal.

I may need to order a wear ring and seal, I'm good with bikes, cars, heavy equipment, ect so I'm not afraid to try to change it, I ordered a CD service manual but I should have waited before I joined.

the wear ring issue still does not sell me on the the sudden burst of power felt several times on the first ride.

pulled the plugs, no I did not cut engine off at wot, it idled while loading.

Plugs looks like new since they only have 3 hours on them. What I found, threads on plug #3 (cylinder closest to front) look new, threads on plug #2, the first ring around threads looks brownish, like got little hot. Threads one plug #1, 2 rings of thread brownish, like hot. Checked the prongs on the connections, look ok.

Checked throttle body, pretty clean, little oily residue. Checked action of throttle and it opens 98% of the way by the throttle. I will clean it before putting hose back one.

Unbolted the fuel rail, looked at the bottom of the injectors and of course can see much, look clean with 4 small holes.

Checked the fuel and spark fuses under the one cap, did not check the other side as nothing seams related to this.

Coolant looks good but there is green coolant in bottom of ski around a hose (about 1 1/2 " diamater) that goes from what I guess is the water pump to the rear bottom of the ski. But that is water tight clamped and I did add some coolant when I got the ski and I think I spilled a little and it made it's way back there. I see no coolant and just a puddle or two of water in bottom.

Oil and cap have no eveidence of water/coolant and tank has stayed at same lever 30 miles of riding.

Better inspection of impeller I see about 5-6 dents, none more than 1/8", more like couple 16th.

Filled it to top before last ride, rode about 15-18 miles and there 3 bars left on dash.

By the plugs it's like the rear cylinders are lean, like it's running out of enough fuel pressure to feed the rear two, I've seen this on performance cars that both fuel rails are feed by one line, but this can be common I think.

The impeller damage does not explain the burst of power then full 65 mph on the first ride. I dont think I hit anything but I landed it it about 2 1/2 feet of water, but did not use throttle much to get on trailer, it was deep in the water.

did yuo check all the fuses? I want also start checking all the connections. SOunds like yo have a loose/corroded wire somewhere.

stated it runs to the rpm limit, about 7300-7400 rpms, even trying to pull tube. I pulled plugs and they about 6 hours on them and very white, I know there new and this was from idling onto trailer.
Going to do a compression check tonight, what should the numbers be?

I will check the other row of fuses, go over the connections again, the guy put a new battery in as I was buying it and I keep thinking a conection got messed with.

After compression check, ect I'm getting the sensor and oil change, tech said install sensor for free if I would let him do oil change, just trying to drum up work but he tolerated me back in service dept and all my questions. Then I'll stop at lake and check the plugs, any fear of removing them while hot, I put anti-sieze on them.
