Hi, I got myself a 2001 Seadoo RX 951 recently for £300 with a good Indispension trailer with it, The engine has been removed and a few crucial bits are missing like carbs and cylinder head, also some smaller parts and i think some nuts and bolts. It has one damaged cylinder sleeve and will need starter motor, crank and balance shaft either rebuilt or replaced, The hull is in good condition apart from a corner piece of bumper plastic missing, Jet pump looks to be in good shape and spins freely with no damage to liner, Its been lying for a few years since being stripped down so parts are also a little rusted, Was in a dry container by the sea so salt air not been too kind to the aluminium,

So would i be safer getting a full engine or buying only the parts i need and building this from the ground up.....??

Or could i go with a different engine and make it a more powerful ski, ?? Or is the 951 a good engine i should stick with?,

Apologies for all the stupid questions,

The 951 is a good engine but very stressed because of the high horsepower and small displacement.

Being in Ireland I don't know how easy it is to get parts or rebuilt engines.

You will need a new crank, rebuilt balancer, reeds, larger pistons fitted to the cylinders, carbs. It is going to get pretty expensive with all the parts missing and needing refurbishment.

Yeah i thought that, I had hoped to maybe get most stuff from one seller in the states who would have all i need so only one postal fee to pay, Can you suggest anyone that might stock all the parts i need or a rebuilt engine?

Here is a quick video of what i have for a bottom end,

I am no expert but balance shaft looks and feels ok apart from a bit of rust so could i replace bearings on it clean it up a bit and reuse it?

Crank needs replaced probably in my eyes, Or are the easy enough to rebuild?

crank case is a bit corroded but should be ok, Gonna clean it up now and give it a better inspection,

Pretty nasty.

It would have been easier to remove the flywheels before pulling the crank. You will need to get them off to reuse on the new crank.

I got the ski like this with engine in bits and parts missing. I did not do the disassembly... makes reassembly that much harder cause i didnt see where everything came from. Just 1 big jigsaw now.lol

I made this tool for pulling the PTO off the crankshaft. Works great. no heat needed... 1/2" impact wrench and ZIP it is off. :) Feel free to copy it. You can purchase a flywheel puller that works pretty good.

I tried the pull the bearings off the balance shaft and screwed up the gear on my first one I just wanted to see how tight it was. :) I didn't care about the shaft I was just working on a method to remove the bearing.PTO Puller.jpgPTO Puller-B.jpgPTO Puller-C.jpg
