Hello Everyone, I just bought a 2001 Sea Doo with D.I. that the gentlemen said ran good. We started it on the trailer and ran it for about 2 seconds. Did not take on the water as I had no reason not to believe him. When we took it to the lake, it started but ran erradic, then died on the water. Took back to the dock and put in new plugs and it ran pretty good for about 15 minutes then died completely. Now it will barely start but will not stay running and has trouble ideling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone for guidance on this.

The first and easiest thing to do would be to check your compression- 135 PSI would be on the upper end and 115 on the lower end. If that is good you need to check your fuel pressure. A very common problem on DI skis is fuel pressure. The manual calls for 107 psi plus or -2 psi. There is an X ternal in-line fuel filter that should be changed. Also inside the fuel tank on the outside of the fuel module is a replaceable filter and then you have to disassemble the fuel module and there is a another filter inside the module. Another common problem with DI skis is the voltage regulator/rectifier. One way to check the regulator/rectifier is to unplug the wires going to it and run it, if the problem goes away-bingo. Of course don’t run it too long it will kill your battery because it won’t be charging. If you do purchase a regulator/rectifier only buy an OEM regulator rectifier I know it’s very tempting to buy the cheapo’s but don’t do it! Only OEM. Is your maintenance light coming on on the info center? If not it’s a good chance it is fuel related. So you need to check your fuel pressure. Post back your compression and fuel pressure numbers. Good luck Jim
