Title pretty well explains what happened. Details to help

2001 with a new engine(but same engine) installed in 2005. Only run premium gas, fuel filter was changed near end of season last year, seafoam in gas always used for storage.

Idles fine
No issue it seems when punching the throttle to get out of the hole but now will not go above 25 or so mph without an obvious bog. Normally this GTI runs 51-52 mph solid.

Plugs looked like they were burning perfect, did a plug check.

Any ideas what to look for? Thank you in advance

Oil in hull? If so the small 3/32" id tygon oil injection lines are failed, engine is seizing from no lubrication.

Yes, there does seem to be some oily mix, not a lot but then not a lot is an opinion and very subjective. I had just put a new battery in and added a battery tender as I do with any play toy that may sit for some time without use, notices the oily mixture when I did that. I call it an oily mixture, because it looks golden and not blue like the oil. But it is certainly oil based without a doubt.
