Ok Im new here and I was wondering if there was anyone that had this issue before.

So about a year ago my sporster which I left in the lake for the season....sank. Its a long story. Unbelievable the thing survived (or so I thought) the original sinking. I eventually had to replace both coil packs for the engines and starter relays as the boxes that this stuff is housed in was full of water. (I thought that it was sealed....not so for sinkage.)

Everything worked well...however...I am now running into a charging problem. Whether the boat is running or not I get 12.2 vdc at the batt. (batt voltage.) Both engines do not charge

My questions are:

1 does this have a single rectifier for both engines?

2. What would the normal output voltage be for charging the batt. (figure it should be around 13.7 or so)

I am gong up north right now to run it...on batt alone.. I will charge it at night and it should be fine.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

Thanks

Tom V

i have 2 787 motors on my boat and they both have regulators on them. They are mounted on the front side (mag) side of the motor... I thought I read somewhere the charging voltage was al ittle higher than what you suspected, but not sure... also you may want to consider corrosion since it was submerged... check connection points for good contacts...
