Hello,

My 2000 gtx ltd 1000cc seems to be sucking in water from some unknown location. The problem doesn't happen all the time, only when I cut hard corners and water comes over the hood. After this happens engine sputters for 5-10 minutes, 1/2 throtle only.

Anyone have ideas of where the water could be comming in or what could be causing this problem.

Thanks in advance,

George

In your driveway, put water in the compartment and see where it leaks out. it may
be at drive, I have seen turf rivots leak. Exhaust manifold have weak points
at knockouts, that can corrode thru.

My 01 gtx rfi would get water in the hull from leaking around the front storage comp. I put some peel and stick grey foam tape under the plastic box and adjuted the latch and hinge positions. perhaps you are getting your electronics wet? get it sealed up and see what happens. good luck!! Geoffrey

Is their a factory seal around the front compartmant if so I don't have it? What did you replace yours with and that sealed I'm pretty sure this is my problem but I will have to wait until summer to try it on the lake thank for the info. George

You might want to check the plastic nuts that hold the steering cable and/or reverse cable in place as it comes through the hull at the back of the ski. I have a 2001 GTI and I found the threads to be broken on both of mine allowing water to enter the hull. Why they would use a plastic nut is beyond me. The actual name for this nut is "Cable Lock". I know you said that it only happens when water comes over the front but you might want to check this out also.
