does anyone know if there are a lot of problems with the fuel injected engine? should I stay away from it?

I wouldn't say there a re a lot of problems with the RFI engine but it isn't as easy to work on as a carbed ski. Make sure you use fresh fuel, change the in -tank fuel filters as soon as you get it and run the correct API-TC full synthetic oil, never TCW-3 oil.
