I just acquired my speedster the other day. I was told that the boat does leak from the drain-tube. So instead of letting water out, it is letting water in. I believe the check-valve may be missing as I can not find it anywhere on that drain-tube. Of course i'm not 100% sure what I need to be looking for here. Any help would be appreciated.

On the back of the Speedster there is a black cone--scupper valve. That is where the ball should be. It is a commercial part so you might be able to get it cheaper. ALso check the bellows around where the exhaust exits the hull. They dry rot. I have replaced mine already on my 99 and they are already needing replacement before next season--not leaking yet, but not looking good!

Part #29 on the microfiche.

thanks Racer. So the black cone seems to be in need of replacing and there is no ball.. I was told that the boat was taken in to get looked at right before I got it and they had replaced the entire tube... the tube looks new but it seems as they used the same black cone as it seems to be broken and the forgot to put the ball back in..

Is the scupper valve easy to find a replacement for?

You can order it right from that site or check the MFG. on the part and look for a part# and google for it. Don't forget to check those exhaust gaskets if you order it from them.

Checked the exhaust gaskets and they seem to be ok. I did however look over the papers and discovered its a 1997 not a 98'. Will that effect what part # I need? I'm new to the Jet boat world so I am not familiar as to how drastic the changes are from year to year.

Yep,

Here you go Click here Item # 61

So it seems as thought they no longer stock the scupper-valve for the 1997 speedster. I looked on two different sites so far and none have them.. am I SOL?

So I did some calling and ended up finding a commercially available part by t-h marine. It is the flow max ball scupper and can be had for $9.99. I really like the design, it will not wear out... which is a plus.
