This is my third time around on this problem. Pulled stator cleaned it nothing wrong ohms out great. Vaccum entire housing out. Put it back together starts three times runs five minutes blows same fuse again. Check stator wires ( 3 yellow) all shorted to ground. Was not shorted after I put it back together.
Here is where I am either getting smarter or someone more well versed need s to help. I disconnected the positive side of the battery. Got on one of the previously shorted yellow wires to ground and shows a short. I pull the plugs rotate the engine slowly and the short goes away and comes back about every half rotation. If I am correct and there is nothing left in the housing for the stator is the crank shaft moving enough to make the flywheel touch the stator? Maybe too much play in the crank bearings? I did not notice any scuffing on the stator but I was not looking for such a thing at the time. Any of you smart guys got an idea to help this hapless backyard mechanic?
