I have a 1998 challenger that just take too long to get on plane, whats going on here? I have been reading and it sounds like alot of people have had this but came down to wear ring and carbon ring is there a kit for all of this I can get?

Checkout SBT located in Florida, they will have what you need. If your a premium member there are some great how to stickys on changing the wear ring..

Thats the best way to go and while the pump is removed, check the wear ring[$35.00].Replacing these items is simple and will put you up on a plane as intended.Just replaced carbon/carrier seal with o-rings[driveline repair kit @SBT $64.00].

No it doesn`t,but well worth the extra effort.I believe the max gap between impellar OD and the wear ring ID is .040 [use a feeler gage].Can be done while pump is still on boat.Do this, Climb under boat to pump inlet and use feeler gage, sticking it in gap.Its part of the inspection,no need to replace parts that don`t need it.Does the boat rev high while slow to accel.?Is this a twin engine or a single?

when I start out at idle I start to open it up and get it to full the engine is wanting to go but just doesnt get it on plane for 15 sec, Im sure its the pump cavitaing, I ordered all the parts today I might as well take it apart and look at it if it doent need it then I guess I will have spare parts

Also the drive line kit doesnt come with the Neoprene seal for the pump dose it? I cant find one on SBT for a 1998 Challenger didnt know it the 1997 was the same one.
