The starter went out in my 97 XP so I ordered a replacement from SBT. I just took the old one out tonight and compared it to the SBT one and while they look the same, the SBT one has 8 teeth and the one I removed has 9 teeth. SBT only listed one starter for a 97 XP 787 and one for a 787 RFI. I ordered the non RFI one but I'm now not sure if that is what they sent.

Long story short...does a non RFI 787 take the 8 tooth or 9 tooth starter or does it even matter? If they sent me the wrong one then I don't want to install it and make it un-returnable. Thanks.

8 or 9 tooth starter gears will work, squid-daddy. They came out in 98 w/ the 8 tooth, and realized they were the chit, off goes the 9th tooth.
