So, i got this ski last summer on trade for some work i did, but i did not know that this thing would not run. Here's the deal, the boat runs great for the minute that it actually does decide to run, but then shuts off as if someone were hitting a kill switch. The machine with then fire right back up and run for maybe 10 seconds and then shut off again. Went to the dealer and they told me that chances are it is not the post or the less key itself. Now what I'm wondering is do i have a bad computer in this machine and is it even worth it to fix, or have any of you guys ran into this similar problem. I simply just cannot figure it out for the life of me... if you have any insight that would be greatly appreciated.

- new battery was just installed, and it has great compression

Possibly a ground issue. Clean the dess post with soap and water also but check all grounds.

Mine was the dess post.Tap it lightly while its running. My 96 XP had the same issue..I just happened to tap it as it running, and it would stay running.I replaced it and have not had the issue since.

I guess I need to become DESS post Savvy. :) I'm putting my key on and off a few times while threatening the ski. Sometimes it beeps, other times it just starts. I've never cleaned the DESS post but it doesn't look dirty. I was thinking about replacing the DESS post because it is so ornery. After starting the ski works fine and cooperates. I suppose it is when I leave the key off the post for a longer period that it needs massaging and fondling to engage.

It is odd.I would always get the 2 beeps and it would start.when i pushed start button 5 times without key it would enter diagnostic mode timer for 33 secs..enter key would start.run 30 secs and shut down as if on timer.
I just happen to be tapping the post as it was running and it continued to run longer than the 33 second mark.
Replaced the Post from Ebay. Have not had a issue in 3 months. Maybe just a fluke. May have something to do with the magnet in the post.
