Recently purchased a 98 Spx and the owner included an 97 SPX as part of the deal. He stated that he could not get it started (motor would not turn over) and decided to play mechanic (play being the operative word). He pulled the pump..that was not stuck. Motor spun freely...and finally after he had taken everything else apart figured out that it was a bad starter. Bought a new one...installed it but thats as far as he got. So...I got a 97 SPX with all parts (that I know of except steering cable) all piled into the hull. I will test everything I can before selling. I have not checked compression but I will. Hull (currently NJ registered and I have bill of sale) is in average condition with some cracks in gel-coat, quarter size dent on bottom as well as scratches, and reinforcing/fiberglass work on/near front motor mount. No fading but seat and handlebar cover mildewed. If If I did not already have three ski's I would rebuild myself.
