Okay, so I got the fuel issue figured out on my ski. So I took it for a spin, from a dead stop trying to take off the engine will rev to about 6500 RPM but barely go and it felt like vibration from the back possibly. If i turned left and right I could eventually get it to take off and it seemed to run pretty good until I stopped again and would have to repeat the same thing. sounds like cavitation? I looked in the intake grate and through the back but I don't see anything caught inside. Should I be able to see light between the impeller and wear ring or should it be pretty tight, like paper thin tight? What else could cause it to do this? thanks for the help, this forum is very helpful

The wear ring should be very close to the impellar. That's where I would start. Super easy to pull the pump and have a close look

Thanks for the reply. I can look through the back and see daylight between the wear ring and impeller. Is there a spec to how much it can be that I can use a feeler gauge to check?

What’s that piece of trash?

See below from shop manual... I just replaced wear ring on my 2005 GTI LE RFI... and what a difference it made.. Not sure if the tolerance is the same on your year. ... but the clearance should be pretty small and to me yours looks seems like to much of a gap.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I will just plan on replacing the wear ring and carbon seal this winter so I shouldn’t have to worry about them next year.
