hello ....newbie here....need alot of help......mainly with starting issues on a 1996 xp....just clicks......ran outa gas last weekend been having prob ever since any and all help app....

and is it true about taking starter off does carbs..ect have to come off

First, you have to be more specific re your problem. Running out of gas isn't something I can fix. But did you switch to reserve?
I have similar '95SPX's. Starter and carbs are independent. But my main problem has been carbs and internal filters getting clogged by deteriorating fuel lines. Taking off carb requires a 6mm allen head hex socket after first taking off air intake components. I got into trouble with the carb bolts.. really locked up. So be very careful there to not strip out the hex bolts.
First issue is starting.. "just clicks" frequently is a bad or discharged battery. Check solenoid by jumping across it in electric box. DO NOT jump start from a running vehicle or you may damage the expensive MPEM (Electrical Module).
