Hi everyone,

I inherited two 1995 GTX Bombardier sea doo's this year. I month ago i had carbs rebuilt, new spark plugs new battery's put in. We had them out on the river all day Saturday. They ran great. At the end of the day one started and the other one wouldn't start. After several attempts to start it turned over and i drove it to the launch ramp and brought it out of the water. The video attached is what it was doing. I pulled the battery out and it was almost dead. Does this sound like a battery issue or something else?

So your POST title says 1996...but your actual post is describing 1995 machines?

Assuming the battery was good when you started but then was weak by end of day.....that sounds like a rectifier problem to me.....the ski should be making AC power through the stator coil which gets converted to AC by the rectifier which keeps a "trickle charge" so to speak, back to the battery to keep the battery maintained for the next start/charging cycle.

However, a good battery should not drain in a day......before I got my '96 fixed up proper.....I'd get a Yellow warning light and a 12V low message....but the battery would last weeks before losing enough charge to not get the ski re-started.

Are all your fuses good and the wiring and connectors in good shape...check for water/corrosion in connectors which could be blocking electric from flowing through the ski properly.

BTW....I just watched the vid......the ski is starting but won't stay running....is that the issue? When was the last carb service done to the machine(s)....if ever?

Hi, Sorry, they are 1995's. thanks for the quick reply.
i will look at the fuses/ wiring.

The carbs were just rebuilt a month ago! It would start then die which is why i thought it wasn't a battery issue but the battery had only one red bar when i pulled it out to charge.

Were the carbs rebuilt with genuine mikuni parts kits? Aftermarket kits are just not up to the task.....the collective wisdom of the forum will ALWAYS SAY -> ONLY Genuine Mikuni Carb parts for any carb rebuild....experience tells us everything else is a fools errand.....waste of time, energy and money. Another thing to watch is the springs in the carbs.....always re-use the original stock carb springs UNLESS you specifically buy the right springs for your ski (I'm pretty sure the '95s used the 80 gram black springs (which don't come in the parts kits)). If someone before you has mucked about in the carbs....you might not know what you have to start with......
