I have a 1994 XP that has been sitting for about 4 years. I just finished a top end rebuild, carb rebuild, replaced fuel lines, replaced fuel filter, replaced fuel valve. Took to ramp today and got overheat buzzer almost immediately. Was louder at idle than at speed. I stopped after a minute or two and took my ski home, checked all the water lines and they seemed clear. I took the temp sensor out and heated it up in water to determine when the switch would close. I read 0.0 ohms at 125 degrees F. It is my understanding that the sensor should close at or around 200 degrees F. At this point I plan to replace the temp sensor and retest the ski. I bet I will have to order from the web and I will most likely miss the labor day holiday. I hate to risk all my rebuild work by running the ski without this important warning device.
By the time I get my ski running it correctly it will be time to put it away for the winter. Oh well, one step at a time.
