Engine runs for 5 minutes or so then overheats and boggs down. When we open the seat compartment, the 2 bleeder tubes fried clean off. When we blow out through the tubes, the tubes are clear out the back of the jetski. When we disconnect the water intake tube from the rear of the ski, all seems clear as well, however when we start the ski with the tube disconnected...water does not come shooting in as we anticipated it should. Shouldn't the impeller be shooting water in through the engine when it is running? Anyone know how else we can troubleshoot this overheating issue? I see mentions of a wear ring. Where is it and how do we get to it to see if there is a problem?

Yes if you start the engine in water and have the intake hose disconnected it should shoot right in (pretty fast too) the wear ring surrounds the edges of the impeller inside the pump. Something is probably blocking it up. Try to backflush the line with air or water to see if its clear or if something gets dislodged.

At least that is what I would start with, maybe the experts might be able to chime in too if I missed something.

Thanks

Thank you. We found that water wasn't shooting in because of a hole in the housing where water comes into the back of the ski. It looked like it was manufactured that way when the hole was machined. I wonder if anyone else has had that come out like that? It was painted purple to match but resembled a plug or metal chuck. We had to find a new cover/housing...black not purple, but it works and runs great now.
