1992 SPI Hose routing

Hi there,
I have a 1992 SPI and for the life of me all I can find for manuals are for the SP. I have read on this forum that there was an upgrade kit available and likely one of the many previous owners installed it. The model of the PWC is 5805 as listed on the tag.

So down to the question. I need help on the water line routing. I have read that the SPI upgrade included adding a fitting on the bottom of the exhaust pipe, (which mine has) but I have no idea where or what to connect it to.

I have been using the shop manual for routing based on the SP, but I cant find how or where this bottom fitting fits into the picture. Also I noticed that one of the water lines (that indicates water is flowing) was capped and plugged.

Any help would be super appreciated or even a picture of someone's setup would be awesome.

Thanks!

EDIT: I have the white engine, and the golden gray exhaust pipe.

I had the same issues with my 1996 SPI. I couldn't figure out the water lines. This was my first ski. :) Ended up... I had a Factory Aftermarket Pipe on there which required the rerouting of the water lines and, like yours, one of my discharge lines was plugged. If I can help let me know. Do you have a picture of the exhaust system?

Let's see if this link works. :) See Page Six.

If you do indeed have this set up, I can help you.

There is the mystery fitting on the bottom of the muffler pipe.

I should add that I put these new water lines in as the shop manual indicated, but like I mentioned before one of those lines was plugged just like yours....

Your link worked. But mine doesnt have a water pump...

DrHonda was the one who originally posted about adding this fitting, maybe he will see this?

OK, these are pictures of the connection point of the lower cooling line from my exhaust pipe to the rear of the ski.

Thats where you connect to the bottom of the muffler pipe?

In your picture that connects to the exhaust manifold in my machine.

This is the layout for the SP.

Yes, that is where "mine" is connected. I am not saying mine is correct either. :) Just they way it is run and since they installed the aftermarket factory pipe I am trusting them to a degree. I will do more research before I call my current work complete. Hope this helps a bit. Good Lucki !!

Don't go by what etemplet has as the Factory Pipe is completely different that the stock OEM one in how it is cooled and plumbed.

The 1993 service manual shows the routing of yours....

From the pump pressure line it goes to the the 1/2" fitting on the front of your pipe ant tee's off a 1/4" hose to the middle of your pipe.

The 1/4" hose from the top of the pipe goes to the pisser at the rear tow hook.

The 1/4" hose on the top of the head goes out the other pisser next to the rear tow hook.

The 3/8" hose under the exhaust manifold goes out the back of the hull.

The 1/2" hose off the back of the head goes out of the exhaust outlet hull fitting.

The 3/8" hose out the intake side of the engine goes out the smaller exhaust outlet hull fitting.

Thanks guys!
mikidymac Thanks, but my pipe has 4 fittings. The pump fittings go to the 2 middle fittings, then there the top one which is supposed to go out the pisser, but there is a new one at the bottom where it joins the muffler box.

However I was browsing parts lists and found under the decals pictures a picture of the "modified" SPI pipe, and it shows that the bottom fitting should connect itself to the top one (instead of going out the pisser) which would explain the capped pisser tube.

Here is the picture I foundCapture.jpg

Looks to me they join up. Any final thought before I try it out?
