Long story short but im putting a 720 in the ski. does anyone know what the rpms is set at on the 580 computer?

You should be swapping all the electronic components of the 720 over as well. There aren't any "set rpm's" the machine aims for in any "program". There is an rpm where your motor will make the best HP and that rpm will be achieved through choosing the right impeller and making sure all aspects of the intake, carbs and exhaust are tuned properly. The rev limiter is part of the electronics and I believe it is set for right around 7000 on the 92 XP. This only limits the motor from over reving and damaging itself, it doesn't offer any performance advantage. When we set up those 91/92 XPs we noticed a trend of many coming back, after a couple of years, that were hitting the rev limiter every few seconds when running on smooth water in a straight line. After doing all we could to fix the first few the only solution was to replace the rev limiter. We found out later that the engineers knew that those rev limiters would age and drift down enough to cause unwanted cutting out. I fixed it by taking the trailing edge of the impeller and giving it the slightest kick to raise the pitch a hair, drop rpms a few hundred and maintain stock performance. The customers were happy since it saved them a chunk of change.

i understand how the ski works. i just wanted to know the what the rev limiter was set it... heck a stock 787 on a good day will only turn 6950 rpms. i just wanted to what it was set to on the 580. thanks for all the info though
