Let me start by saying this is my first jetski, and only the second watercraft ive worked on of any kind. Pulled it out of the weeds after 6 years. Ran when last put up ( love that saying, dont you?) Im currently cleaning the fuel tank out, took the plugs off and turned the engine over just in case. When doing so, it gushed out oil of each plug hole. Thought the oil from the reservoir may have leaked into the engine some how? The reservoir still had 2 gallons in it. So i kept turning the engine over, and it still gushed oil everytime. I believe the injection system is injecting too much oil? Could it have something to do with me having the full tank out already? Any help would be appreciated.

Yikes that is quite a mess. You mean 2 quarts of oil right? The complete oil tank holds less than a gallon.

This is most likely not the injection system, too much oil. Your crankshaft centre seals seem to bad, which is rare on a 580 engine. The oil tank feeds oil to the rotary cavity to keep the rotary shaft gear lubricated against the crankshaft gear, there are oil seals on each side of the crankshaft gear keeping it in an oil bath, but there seems to be an oil leak from the rotary cavity into the cylinders. After pumping the oil out through the spark plug wholes and leaving the machine for a bit, does the oil level in the tank drop at all?

HIGHLY unlikely the oil injection put that much OIL into the cylinders.....your crankshaft seals are leaking as previously indicated.....I'm afraid that engine needs to be taken apart and new seals installed, etc.....which begs the question....IS IT WORTH doing that on an '89? a 32 years old ski.....only you can make that decision.....that's a lot of work.

Ill have to test that out. I appreciate the reply! I know i continued rotating the engine, it kept spitting the amount of oil that the tiny 2 stroke oil bottles have until the tank was basically empty. Now i have a engine to pull apparently and a very dirty hull! Is there any other seal that could be the culprit? Or am i stuck at worse case scenario? Lol

As i said its my first seadoo/jetski, but not my first trip down a project rabbit hole! My father suddenly passed back in 2013, just before he did we traded a old river boat for this jetski, i remember it hooked up to a garden hose and running just before he passed. Sounded great and we were told the jet drive worked when trading. It was all foreign talk at 13 years old for me lol. 7 years later, im Mechaniclly inclined ( im a body technician but a little more than a back yard mechanic at heart) im willing to put the work in as its been basically a free seadoo up until now! My first question is how are people pulling the engines out? Small 2 stroke cant be too heavy, unbolt, unplug, and lift or what? I appreciate the info and your reply!

Or,,,some people,,,install a gate valve below the oil tank,,,to prevent the leaking of oil into the cases/cylinders,,,since,,,most of the oily smokey starts are after the boat has been sitting,,a super super easy cheap move and worth the try?,,after a days run,,,you turn the valve off,,,and of course,,,turn it on before the next start,,of course,,,if the seals are super bad,,,the valve will not work.

I appreciate the get er done trick, but im a far passed a good enough seal to do that. It hydrolocks instantly after plug is reinstalled!

Look out Boys and Girls....he's going IN.....the deep dive!

Our thoughts and prayers and sympathies and ENCOURAGEMENT will be with you.....check that you can source the parts first......no point in taking her apart only to discover no parts are available to make her right.......

Keep in mind if it is the inner crank seals, you can't just "change" them. You will need to buy a remanufactured crankshaft.
