I just bought a 97 sd speedster 14ft and we took in out on the weekend in the river and the ride was rough with boats out there it was hard to get over 30mph.My question is i have a chance to sell my boat and by a 99 sd challenger 18ft would this boat do better on the river or should i just by a pontoon boat.

Challenger is way bigger, it will give you a smother ride just from the size..

I upgraded from a 95 speedster to my 98 challenger 1800, much nicer boat, more room, better handling, smoother ride. The 0-30 on plane is going to be a lot slower, and it's not going to handle like a speedster which is more like a large wave runner. Which challenger are you looking at? Is a a Challenger 1800 with twin 787 engines?

yea its a 1999 sd challenger 1800 twin 787s.i am gonna be the third owner the boat it sat for a while from the 1st owner that had it and he used it once and then let it sit for a few years.then my friend bought it and redid all the seats, handles, stereo, and got the motors cleaned up.he only put 12hrs on it and the first owner put 4hrs on it.the boat has been garage kept since everything has been redone.friend of mind doesnt have time to use it but he did take it out for easter for 1hr and it ran find.he is gonna let me have it for 4k.he knows the boat is worth more than that but he is giving me a deal because i am a friend and he doesnt have time to try and sell it to somebody he doesnt know.

i like the speedster but its kinda to small and really bad ride where we go in the river.i have a 22month old thats loves boats but doesnt like this one that much.the best place to be when on this boat was on the tube unless we were goin through a no wake zone

$4k for a 1999 Challenger with <20 hours ? smoking deal.....

I've had both a 14 footer and an 18 footer....had a blast in the 14'er, but like the new to me 18 foot challenger mucho better......been out the last 3 weekends in a row..:)
