So I had a friend riding my ski a bit ago. Going 55mph and it then died. Upon getting it out and looking at the rear it trashed the wear ring. The impeller was not to bad so kept it.
I did not have the impeller removal tool so I paid my local boat store to take it apart. I now put a new wear ring in and put it back in the ski. Engine started fine but after the test I saw black plastic being rubbed away. I know the wear ring can be tight, but looked excessive to me. I took it back apart and it looks like the back of the impeller is now rubbing the black housing. The round part is digging into the housing. I don't see a spacer in schematics unless I am missing it on them.
Since I didn't take it apart I am wondering if there is a spacer I am missing and that is why it's rubbing now. Was so happy to get this fixed and now back to the drawing board. Thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any ideas before running to the dealer to admit defeat. Thanks!
