Next time it doesn't start in the water near shore pick up the rear of the ski just enough so the exhaust is out of the water then have a friend crank it over to see if it starts. This is a symptom of low compression or a very worn rotary valve cover.

Also did you bleed the oil pump's?

Grab the oil pump lever and have someone move the throttles to make sure the lever moves. You need a mirror and a light to line up the lever with the mark on the oil pump. Does anyone still need pics of oil line setup? I have a 99 Speedster with twin 787's still running the oil injection.

+1 on the ride plate. The Allen screws on top have orings that are prone to leaking.

Next time it doesn't start disconnect then reconnect DESS key. You should hear the fuel pump prime.

OEM carb kit? What kind of ski?

I used to tow with a Honda Accord, never an issue.

The GSX requires the full synthetic since it is a Rave valve engine. The mineral oil is fine for the GTI but you could use the full synthetic for both but it will be a little more pricey. If you go that route make sure you completely empty the old mineral oil out of the GTI because you...

Those manifolds are known to develop pinholes right where all of that corrosion is. Water then enters inside of manifold then into engine. (happened to my RXP) Are your plugs wet with water droplets when it wont start?

Don't think I have ever seen fuel come out of vent but I have had it spray out of the fill tube when topping off without it stopping the nozzle and I do have that accordion in my fill tube. 99 Speedster.

Full throttle while doing compression test?

+1 on a cooling line blockage. What is overheating the exhaust or the whole engine? If its the exhaust you could have a bad water regulator. Does water come out of the pisser while running on the hose?

Had this issue with my 215 RXP, turned out to be a bad map sensor.

Did you install the pistons in the right direction? (Arrow pointing to exhaust)
