    1997 GTX Project/ Rebuild

First, pull plugs and see if it turns by hand. If no, then pull motor for rebuild or replace. If it turns by hand, pour some oil in the plug holes and turn to thoroughly lube crank. Put some juice to the starter and blow out the oil, hopefully its not milky. Then put some in new plugs and see...

Ugh. Ran water without engine on

I strongly recommend following these rules: 1) If it aint broke, dont fix it. 2) If it runs, it aint broke. Have fun!

Oil and water milkshake from sparkplug holes

Yeh, but he should know if he rolled the ski, ... Just saying, oil/gas+water=milk. If the source of the water is unknown, then its a gasket.

Oil and water milkshake from sparkplug holes

Milk means water intrusion. You must have a leaking gasket somewhere. I can only get my exhaust to seal to the header by coating the gasket with a sealer.

    disable shift lock

These items have all been done at least once over the years. Sometimes dialed in, sometimes not so much. Just installed the rebuilt motor I had setting on the bench, hadn't had it on the water yet so it may be dialed in. The other engine has a leaking oil seal in crank and installed valve in...

    disable shift lock

Yeh, could put the idle up to about 2, again. Just thought there may be a simple way to disable, evidently not.

    disable shift lock

Have a 97 challenger 1800, need to have in neutral to get the double beep and start. Need to drop to idle to go into forward or reverse. Dropping into idle causes the motors to die. Then need to go back to neutral and try again. Hoping to fine a way to fire the engines up when in forward or...

    Seadoo 787 oil block off

Ive got a challenger 1800 with 2 of these motors. 3 lines come from the oil tank, the line to the lower crankcases comes out the bottom of the tank and has a return line to the top of the tank. The third line feeds the oil pump. You want the valve in the feed line to the lower crank which...

    Exhaust pipe welch plugs

Have a couple 787/800s in my challenger and one has had a welch plug leaking. Read several threads here, all quite old, and have been unable to repair. I was able to get through last season with jb weld. Now have the pipe out, removed what was left of the welch plug, got some 1.25 inch...

    Seadoo 787 oil block off

Just put a valve in the oil line going to the lower crank case / rotary valve spindle.

Seadoo 720/787 Welch plugs, Exhaust plug/cap or whatever you want to call them.......

From the lack of reply, am assuming that those plugs are no longer available. Anyway, got a bunch of 1/8" x 1 1/4 dia. aluminum discs if anyone else is looking. I'll send 3 for $12, no additional for shipping.

787 backfiring at about 2 rpm

Upon some research, I believe I should be able to fill the scoring with aluminum welding rods and a torch. Looks to be an off season project.

787 backfiring at about 2 rpm

Thanks for the replies. Plugs not wet, replaced plugs, and cut back wires. Am afraid my problem isn't this easy. Reading other threads, I saw that a bad rotary valve could be the problem. Removed valve cover and see substantial scoring on both the cover and the engine valve surfaces...

787 backfiring at about 2 rpm

Have a 1997 challenger 1800, one engine backfires at about 2rpm. The other engine is running great, therefore good gas. Was running good, until this weekend, arghhh. Don't think the timing, fly and rotary, could have suddenly went out of whack. Thinking water getting into system so I...

    Thoughts on Cylinder Head condition

Not sure the leakage is due to the amount of oil in the crank, but instead, the level of oil in the line feeding the crank (head pressure). I put in a ball valve and new clear oil line in an "s" shape. Typically, I open the ball valve a couple seconds before starting out for the day. I've...
