    97 GTX 787 Crank Seals?

So, OP, did you ever determine whether or not it was the crank seals? I'm having the same issue with mine and I believe it is the crank seals. It sat for quite a while over the winter and when I first tried to start it, it was hydro-locked. When I finally did get it started, the neighbors...

    Full Bore rebuilds

Let me tell you about my experience with Full Bore. I, like you , sent my engine to him around the same time (end September Early October.) Didn't really think about it much until February then I figured I'd better start checking in with them. Make a long story short I got the engine back at...

96 gsx 5620 mid range problem

I did not do a plug chop but I put a new set of plugs in it on Sunday. The PTO looked about right and the mag was very dark

96 gsx 5620 mid range problem

Update: Resynced the carbs using the sound method they were a bit off. Adjusted the carbs 1 turn out on the LS and 0 on the HS Mag; 1/4 on the PTO. Went to the lake on Sat without the airbox on but with the flame arrestor in place. Adjusted the LS screws slightly to smooth out the idle. Took...

Bad day turned to Lucky Day

Miki is right (as he usually is). They should run fine at the factory settings, and I was errant in setting my LS to 1.5 and I intend to correct that. Some say to run the PTO HS screw out 1/4 to 1/2 turn because the PTO cylinder on these tends to run lean. I haven't had it out since I made...

Bad day turned to Lucky Day

When I was replacing the return lines, I had the airbox off so I did resync the carbs. I used MikiD's sound method. I used a long funnel as kind of a stethoscope and placed the end in each carb throat. It was off. The PTO carb was making the click and the Mag carb was not. Adjusted the...

Thanks Miki. Yes this could have been really really bad. God was definitely watching over me.

Bad day turned to Lucky Day

This morning I took the ski up to the lake put it in the water and went out riding. As I continued to ride I notice it was running rough and was not idling at the right speed either. This past week, I have cleaned the RAVEs, made a slight adjustment to the HS screw on the PTO carb (was at 1/2...

    1997 Seadoo GTX fuel problem

Make sure the battery is FULLY charged. These things are very sensitive to low battery voltage during cranking and even though the engine is cranking strong if the voltage drops much below 11v sometimes the ignition will not fire

1997 GTX revival - not starting

Yeah, you're right about not giving the seller a blast. It wouldn't accomplish much. You can still get burned even if you check compression etc before buying. I bought my 96 with what I thought was a good engine. Had good compression and ran, but I got about a season out of it and it blew...

1997 GTX revival - not starting

Oh, and that guy who sold you that should have his a$$ kicked. He knew damned well there was problems and told you it ran. Happens all the time. That is a great ski though and once you get it running right, and you will, you will love it.

1997 GTX revival - not starting

Does it have spark? If the spark plugs are fouling out it either does not have spark or it's getting too much fuel. Check for spark if you have spark then to go back into the carbs and make sure the needles are still seating properly and pop off is correct. After you reassemble the carbs with...

    1997 Seadoo GTX fuel problem

Did you check to see if you have spark? If you put gas in the carbs and didn't even get a sputter, I'd check that out.

96 gsx 5620 mid range problem

I remembered that I had saved a copy of the TSB a while back.
