    Challenger 1800 Reverse Cable Nut

Hi All, The Shift / Reverse Cable on my 1998 Challenger 1800 has seized so I am going to replace it....my question is how to remove the Cables Locking Nut at the back of the boat. Its a really weird shape so I'm thinking it must require a special tool that locks into the webs around the...

Sorry guys, I haven't had the opportunity to go down to run some more tests lately.......will try again this weekend.

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Thanks snikwad003........the more I think about it the more i am convinced there is a severe restriction there.

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Hi Wrench, Thanks for that info. Will check on the weekend. I did have another thought, I'm wondering if the fuel tank breather is blocked or severely restricted...reason is late yesterday I was flushing the engines and both worked perfectly....no sign of a fuel issue. Again will have to want...

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Hi all, seems like the problem might have been the plug wire and cap connection joint.......since reseating both joints on both ignition coils, things seem to have settled down. The "bad" engine revs from 1500 up to and holds at 3000 ~ 3500 rpm without a problem.....then the next problem kicks...

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Hi Chester, Thanks...I just rechecked the manual, it suggests the caps have 10 ohm resistance, I guess there are different brands out there that will have different resistances. To my knowledge my meter is accurate.

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Hi Wrench, caps all test OK at 9k ohms. Have put an inline tester on both engines.....but the port engine starts OK, then you can see one cylinder with erratic spark. How can spark from the coil divide to limit one cylinder.....this morning I trimmed the spark plug leads on both ignition packs...

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

The engine goes down to running on one cylinder when the engine warms up. Will re test tomorrow with the engine warmed up. Thanks again gfk for the offer......have used both my current coils on this engine and the other good one.....both coils appear to be good.

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Correct, 2 engines and two separate coils. Have swapped the coils over and have the same result. Have this morning installed the test harness and static tested Trigger Coil....should be between 190~300 ohms....mine is 259 ohms.....so should be ok, Then checked the good engine just for a...

High resistance in Secondary Winding on Ignition Coil

Hi all, I have a 1998 Seadoo Challenger 1800 where the port engine has recently chosen to run on one cylinder once warmed up. In checking the resistance on the secondary windings of the Ignition Coil (spark plug caps removed) my meter registered 20.5k oms but the manual suggests the reading...

    Experienced Seadoo Mechanic ??

Hi all, Sydney is a good place to be but it is true, if the job goes so do you. But this is not a unique action, I was working in New York in the early 90's, same thing happened to me over there.......a week and a half later I had packed up the house and family and flew back home to Sydney.....

Ignition Coil - to suit 787

Hi IDoSeaDoo, Yes, normally I would agree but after swapping the Ignition boxes between engines I was convinced it was the issue. As i mentioned above to gfk, the problem seems to have been just a slightly loose connection. Really appreciate the new contact for parts...I sure there will be...
