Took them out again this afternoon. It was fun and they ran great.. until it wasn't and they didn't. My girlfriend completed her boating education course the last night so today was her first time on a jet ski. Didn't go very fast but she had a lot of fun. Got a an hour and a half or so in so...

I picked them up from the fiberglass guy early last week. Repair looked great and the fresh gel coat put the rest of the hull to shame. Finally got around to gapping and tossing the new plugs in. Also had my appointment with tpwd to register them and transfer ownership. Got the new tx number...

What do you use for oil line clamps?

I used the crimp clamps that came with the OSD kit but I wouldn't hesitate to use zip ties. Those hoses are a tight fit on the nipples as it is.

Fantastic. Something else to dig into. Guess I need to dig further.

Picked up a second battery. Thing was almost as expensive as the battery my truck has. Duralast Gold EXT16L. Also dropped it off at a local (three doors down) fiberglass guy to repair the hull of the 97. He said he'd give me "the deal of a lifetime" to repair it after I told him the story...

The 97 is buttoned back up. Took them both to the lake to verify the idle and my dad and I each took the 96 out for a quick 5 minute ride each. Ran well. No bogging like the po said was happening so I must've done something right. Water was choppy so I didn't get to open it up much but it was...

Set popoff on all four carbs. The 96 717 ended up at 50 psi and the 97 787 ended up at 35 psi. Supplied 10 psi to the carbs for a few minutes and none leaked so in they went. After tinkering with the throttle, choke, and oil injection, I got it all dialed in, dumped some fresh gas in, filled...

Carb rebuilds showed up this afternoon. After work I got all four rebuilt. Both sets of carbs got black springs. The 97 had silver springs of some kind and the 96 was full of old gasoline. Everything is cleaned and ready for pop off tests tomorrow. Then possibly reinstalling them. We'll see...

That trailer disappears. I like the tailgate idea. Hadn't even thought of that. Ha that's awesome!

New tires and bearing covers installed. Also took the girlfriend for a "test drive" and let her practice backing the trailer in an empty parking lot. We've got a little work to do before she's ready to tackle the boat ramp lol (she has no interest in it so I'm not going to force her to). Also...

Absolutely. I don't think they've been touched in at least 15 years. Granted they haven't been used that much in that time but still.

PSA about using the wrong oil

Not only are they cheaper, they're easier to find. I'm going to run the ones from amazon and hope they perform.

Pulled the trailer into the driveway to repack the bearings and found a ton of pitting on them. They sounded awful too. Cleaned up the hubs and bearing buddies and bought new bearings, races, and seals. Replaced all. Need to buy a couple new bearing covers (missing one, other is cracked). Other...
