Battery goes dead

When I connect my negative terminal to battery it sparks and if I leave connected the battery goes dead any suggestions ? Thanks in advance oh also no spark it’s a 1997 Seadoo gtx

Unplug stator / trigger connector ( front of engine). …. What happens when you connect ground to battery?

Thanks for information I replaced stator and pick up but will ck again
