Hello, I have a 2004 xpdi that won't start. Just installed new fuel pump/ filter. I verified that I do have spark and it is getting fuel. Compression is 155 and 160psi. Ski turns over fine just won't fire. I was thinking maybe bad ground? Should I have continuity between the spark plug ground posts and the ground point by the starter on the block? Of the base of the spark plug and ground point? Bc I do not. I do have continuity from one end of ground cable to the other. Here is a video of what it's doing. Im stumped. Please help

I'm guessing your air system isn't working.

Basically, you get a small pulse of fuel during start up, and you get that short fire. But, once it tries to start, it dosen't have enough pressure you keep feeding fuel.

So... as always with a Di engine... along with checking spark, and compression... you need to check fuel and air pressure.

What's the best way to do this? I did pull the fuel rail off and cranked it and there is ALOT of fuel pressure coming out the injector holes.

Well... if you pulled the rail off... actually... you have no pressure... just volume. When it's open... the system is unloaded. The Di system takes a lot of pressure to operate, and it needs checked properly... with a gauge.

Off the top of my head... I think you need 107 psi fuel, and 80 psi of air. (it may be the other way around though)

Do you have a factory service manual for that ski? If not... you need one. You can't guess about the specs on a fuel injected system.
