Hello,

My xp 97 stopped working.

Not sure if the mpem is bad, key is bad , start switch or connectors of the mpem are the problem.

I want to start with the connectors because they are all messy. (Show in pictures bellow).
The pins are not in a fixed position, they move when I touch them. I am trying to fix the pins but have no idea how.

If somebody had a similar issue, please tell me how u fixed it.

There is a plastic cap to that plug still in the MPEM. You can pull it out with needle nose and snap it back on. Assemble with a little di-electric grease to help keep corrosion away. The 97XP is the only model with the MPEM low in the nose because it gets splashed with water there.

Personally I fix them by wiring in and mounting a sealed grey box from a 96 model. That's only if I find that the MPEM has failed. First I would clean things up like your doing. Be sure to unhook the battery before you you mess around in there too much because some of those pins ar 12v+ and others are ground.
