Hi, Im new to the site, and new to seadoos in general.

I managed to get this seadoo for free. I know nothing about it, except for that it is a XP 650. Ive been told that it is probably a 93-94. I got it given to me from a lady who said it doesn't work, and she is sick of looking at it. I am unsure of the problem currently. I checked the compression in both cylinders and it has 190psi in both. The motor turns nice and smooth by hand, and sounds good when cranking it without spark plugs. For now I am assuming the bottom end of the motor is fine. with 190psi per cylinder, i will also assume the top end is fine. The problem that I am having now is... with both spark plugs in and tightened down the starter does not have the power to turn the motor over. I am using a old (small) car battery to power it. I am sure that the battery is powerful enough. I checked for spark, and I cannot see spark currently... I don't know if that is the problem or if something is just unhooked (someone started tearing it apart). There is 2 open spade style connectors on the front of the motor that are unhooked. I can only find one connector that will plug into it, and when I plug it into it I hear a loud beep noise.

I am giving up on it for the day, if anyone has any insight please let me know where to go next. I am extremely inexperienced with these, I have never even ridden one.

If someone can also help me with figuring out the year, and where a VIN number would be located so I can make sure that this is not stolen.

Thanks!

On the ski rear is the VIN black plastic plate. The last two numbers is the Year. Next, Obtain a Shop Service Manual for you ski yr/mdl and
read it cover to clover to fully DO IT YOURSELF or take the ski to a reputable shop in your area and get the ski "de-winterized". Any probs,
the tech will advise. Best money you will spend!

Thanks, I found out that it is indeed a 1993, and it is not stolen.

This is something that I'm not willing to put money into. Im quite capable of fixing myself I just need to learn a little bit more about these in particular.

If anyone else can help it would be very much appreciated.

I came to the conclusion that the starter is worn. I pulled the starter, and found very worn brushes. I am going to replace them. I think that will fix my slow cranking issue.
Now the only problem that I am having is lack of spark. Is there any common problems with these that would cause lack of spark?

Thanks
