Good Morning Everyone.

My VTS has died, It has a stuck limit switch, the postion senor is bad, reads full down, and the motor is shoot from water in housing.

I looked on line for the new OEM parts, I figure the part number 278001599, Housing - VTS ( replaced 278000668 VTS Box ) is the hosuing and the electronics (Black Box ), I am correct ?
Also with that I need to order the motor seperate ?

Also has eny one used the OSD Parts "VTS Boot Upgrade Kit", is it worth the try ?

Thanks

Rich

Did you take the motor or and connect directly to a battery? Usually the module goes before a motor.

Yes the black box on the backside of the housing is the module.

Yes get a new boot with plastic clamps.

No, Have not done that, the housing was full of water, and it looked bad, I just figured it was toast, I check out everything else according to this web page that I found in this form
http://www.sea-doo.net/techarticles/vts/index.html
that is how I came up with dead "black Box" or at least a stuck end switch and the senor for the trim postion is bad, all other test tested good, the gage works or test good, and power to the unit is good, and handle bar switches are good or at least tested good. I will check the motor I just figured as bad as it looked it had to be toast, oh, and the PO had replaced the 7.5 amp fues with a 10 amp fues, at least I now know where they are. I have had this for 3 summers now, and nvere was quite sure where they were, never needed to get into that box, and it is missing the gasget. I am ordering that too.

Richie,
Theres a TON of info out there regarding your VTS. Here's a link to a thread that helped me a lot, Its not usually as big of a deal as you think and I bet your VTS motor is still good, The fuse is almost definitely blown but thats not the problem you need to fix.

I have the OSD boot on one of my skis right now, They work but they will eventually tear and need to be replaced again.

You need to replace that 10 amp fuse with a 7.5amp. It's 7.5 for a reason.

Yes gasket needed.

Don't do much else until you check the fuses and fix that fuse.

Thanks that web page has a lot of helpful info on bypassing it i will read through it...the fuse were not blown, I checked them both, but the PO had repalced the 7.5 amp with a 10 amp, I have put a new 7.5 amp back in,ut the 10 was still good.

The PO put the 10 amp in, I did not even know that is where they were, I always figured they were in the front electrical box, but never needed to know it until now, both fuses were good, but I am taking the wrong 10 amp fues out and out the correct 7.5 fuse in. but both were still good.

Good find Joe... I've read a lot on vts, but never came across that site

Next check the motor... Pull it out and see if it will turn both ways.
