Hi all, newbie here. Glad to be a part of this forum, its been lots of help already.

1st question, should the water hookup for the hose be capped off when not in use? Wondering if I am missing a vital part or not....

2nd question...out of water the ski runs great, in the water will not go over 20 MPH, seems to rev up fine, just doesn't go. Did a compression test, tested 120 in one and 140 in the other. This is the GTX with the Rotax engine.

No, there is not a cap for the water hookup.

Could be fuel system related. Have you cleaned the carbs and replaced the gray fuel lines? If you haven't, search the threads and you'll find numerous posts on how to do both. While you're at it, clean the RAVE's.

1 . If you are talking about the flush at rear of machine , no
2. does it feel like the machine is slipping ,not taking off. might be wear ring
3. make sure you do compression on warm motor

Not slipping really, just slow to get up to "speed" and at 20 mph its like it hit max speed. BTW, already did the rave valves (got that tip from another user =)) and did the compression test warm and did the marvel mystery oil (as suggested by another user) that's what brought the compression up to that, it was at 90 and 110.

How hard is it to replace the wear ring?

I think you found your problem..
If you had low compression before marvel you still do.
Marvel will help but it will not fix worn out rings. If you do another compression test I bet it will be low. Sounds like you need a top end rebuild
