After cruising the forum for two weeks looking for a boat, I found a nice 4-TEC 155HP 150 at a dealers within 25 minutes from my home. It has 64 hours of gentle use and is in great shape. I paid $7,200 for it - an as-is price.

Now - I need to complete the following work:

- two small gelcoat repairs to the hull - I have a boat dealer/friend that can do this
- hull cleaning - it's a little scummy below the water line
- buffing, polishing, waxing
- remove and replace hull decals that were abraded from a boat lift
- clean the engine compartment

Can anyone recommend the following?

- a product that is good to clean scummy hulls
- best practice for buffing, polishing and waxing a dull hull
- a supplier for hull decals
- a good product/process for cleaning engine compartment

Thanks.And cheers. :cheers::cheers:

Congrats on the new boat.

1 and 2 are a combined effort. I use 3M super-duty buffing compound and a rotary buffer. (not an orbital) The gel coat is tough, and this compound does a great job of bringing back even the ugliest gel. (I'll post a couple pics)

3) go to a dealer for OEM decals, or a local sign shop for custom stuff.

4) Tip the boat back on the trailer... and spry everything down with Castrol Super Clean. It's a very good degreaser, and it's bio safe, but it will etch paint if it sits too long. Once it's all sprayed... hose it off with clean water, and let it drain out the back. If you have some stubborn stuff... scrub it with a brush, then rinse.

Clean up

Congrats on your new toy, lots of fun ahead....

If the scum line is real bad, you should acid wash the bottom.
Muratic acid & Water 50/50 use rubber gloves and wash brush
Old clothes.... hose off when clean.

A really nice addition would be Hydro Turf.
I put it in my boat and it is FANTASTIC!

Adam.
