Hi all,

I had my ski out on the water all week and the throttle seems to not cooperating very well, When I just want to cruise around 30 miles I cant seem to keep it there, it's either im going 25 mph or less and as soon as i get closer to 30 mph it kicks up and im going 40 mph, so im always stuck going 25 or 40.... what can i do to fix this? I adjusted the carbs abit thinking it would help but it did not, And also my top speed used to be 60 mph and has now dropped to 50. I do have a bit of oil sitting on one of the rave valve's but i don't know if that has anything to fo with it..

Any input is appreciated!

Thanx

That's what I starting thinking from doing alot of research lol "the rave valves" i've had the ski for about 1 month now, it's my first one... Im pretty mechanically inclined when it comes to cars so I'm starting to understand how theses motors work but I still need abit of help lol

You can pop the black caps off of the rave valves (wach for the spring) and make sure that they slide up and down easily, if they do leave the spring out and ride it again, if they WERE working you will notice a loss of bottom end and mid power but will run the same up top. If they were not opening like designed you will notice an increase in top end, ( if the valve does move easily by hand it will open sooner without the spring, causing the bottom and mid loss but helping top end) if thats the case we need to figure out why they aren't opening with the springs installed (?solonoid, or torn bellows?)

I've opened them up before, one of them has a bit of oil on it.. They move easily by hand and go down and come right back up, I'm wondering if maybe I just need to adjust to red caps?

Adjusting the red caps down will cause them to open later. You might be able to find a happy medium that will allow you to cruise without the "powerband" coming on so soon.
