My friend is spring shopping for a ski. I convinced him on SeaDoo so we are going over some models to see what he likes out there.

On the 185hp model skis like the GTX SC of approx 04-05.... If he bought one with low hours (:heart:0 or so), would he be able to just have the washers switched out for metal ones? They are about $100 bucks, so that wouldn't be a costly swap.

Or would he need to buy the complete rebuild kit and replace everything? I am not sure of the inner workings of the superchargers, but it seems like if it was low hours then he should be fine just swapping washers because everything else is fine.

Thanks!

I'd buy a complete updated kit. It has other things that are updated not just washers. Most dealers charge around 500-600 for a complete rebuild.

'03 185hp engines didn't have the ceramic washer issue. For the price, I'd suggest getting a 215 so it's more 'current' and has more potential.
