starts and dies and loses power to info center

still working on my 96 spx 717 that was another toy left sitting for a couple of years.
carbs rebuilt and it starts right up and dies in two to three seconds every time. all power is lost. took out lanyard post and it checked fine on multi meter.
so whats the next step take out rev limiter to see if that helps or just get a new mpem?
please help

check grounds, Then unhook the blk/red wire in the ebox. If it runs fine then its the MPEM

I have one available if you need it.

will do that check tomorrow. just unhooked all vts on a whim to see if the vts was causing this (READ THIS FROM ANOTHER POST)
