Hi everyone,
I replaced the factory 6-1/2" speakers in my '06 Sportster with some new Kenwoods recently.
The speakers fit in the factory holes, but wouldn't fit inside the plastic insulated covers in the engine compartment. I left the covers off, but thought I'd see what others have done.
Just wondering if the heat in there could be hard on the speakers?
Thanks in advance.

I have an islandia. I had originally left mine in thinking it would help with waterproofing.
I ended up removing them since the foam was hard and crumbling and with the new speakers it seems it was distorting the woofers and diminishing the bass.
After removing them the bass was no longer distorted and sounded much louder.
Hoping they are not needed for waterproofing or as a heat shield.
