I was trying to figure out why I had a sudden loss of rpms at idle, and I think i may have found my problem. I decided to check and clean carbs again which were spotless to see if that is why I lost rpms....checked low speed needles, clean and set at a lil less than 1-1/4 turns out, checked pto high speed and it was set at 0. Then checked mag high speed and it was like at least a full turn out (forgot to count as I was so suprised). Pulled it out and there was a decent size chunk out of the seat (is this the rubber grommet?) Anyways, where do I go from here? Can someone give me the name of a website that can get me back going. And if im staying stock do I really need to check the pop off pressure? I'm worried as I don't have much experience on how to tune carbs, but I can clean them.

If you replace any internal parts (needle seat, pivot, spring) then you need to check the pop-off.

Now... about your high speed needle. There is an O-ring that helps seal it, and when they get older... they normally deform, and look like they have a wedge shape. If it's not too hard... it's still usable.

If you can post a pic of the broke part... we can better help you with it.

Thank you Doc. The piece that is messed up is the o ring. I thought that was the seat appearently. One o ring still looks like an oring, and fits very loosely around needle. The other that has a chunk out of itis sort of wedged indeed. Can I replace these without doing pop off? If so can I just get them from o reileys or somewhere? Thanks again

Yes. It's just an O-ring.

If you are opening the carbs... I always recommend checking the pop-off... but if it was running OK, and you aren't changing the internal parts... it's not necessary.

Yup not changing anything. So I will go to auto store to pick some up. I just need to know how loosevthey should fit around the needle. The worn one is very snug but the other fits loosely

CR,
The only dumb question is the one that is NOT asked. I bet the experts here on the forum started out by asking a lot of questions.

I would take the part with you and ask the counter guy if he knows how snug it should be.....probably similar to other carbs.

I'm sure that others will answer your question here.

Yeah I know SDBuddy...but sometime yalls knowledge is intimidating. Anyways ill try and get a few and post some pics if I can and let u guys tell me which one fits best

well i got a couple new orings and i think it really helped my problem. thanks again guys, next step is to take to the lake!
