well i got this new ski ....and i have done a few things to it since it wasnt running when i got it.

It seems to run fine now

but it doesnt take off the way i like..

my 89 sp has alot of work done to it although not the fastest ski

it will shoot out the water from a dead stop and i like that feeling....lol

the gsi doesnt hesitate or cavitate but it doesnt take off like the old sp....

is this just the nature of this ski or is this not normal...

If it doesnt hesitate, id check impeller wear eing clearance. If its too large, the ski will rev like normal and may get top speed, but will be slow out of the hole...

The difference in power is not really that much stock to stock, and you said your sp has some stuff done to it, so, even if the sp makes 10hp less than the gsi, it weighs a lot less. According to http://www.seadoosource.com/fueleconomy.html a 93 sp Only weighs 368 lbs, yours coud be lighter, but the chart only goes to 93. The 97 gsi weighs 478, so it's carrying around an extra 110 lbs. that's probably why it doesn't feel as quick out of the hole as the sp does.

Thats what i figured .I never rode the gsi before so i had nothin to go by

I think it's all relative, I remember back when I got my GTI came out to the no wake, gunned it, I thought to myself, it doesn't get any better than this, then I got a 96XP, proved me wrong.
