Yes, whenever I remove the RAVEs I also shine a light into the plug hole to inspect the piston crown, rotate the crankshaft to see the piston skirts are scored. Then of course measure compression just before oiling the motor and giving it the antifreeze flush.

Then first thing before restarting in spring pull the plugs out and rotate the crank to make sure there's no tight spots or strange noises from corrosion.
 
lol my first 2 that we bought in 96 didn't get winterized for 10 years. Alittle braap braapp on the ramp and that's it. Over 600 hours on those 717's. Now I do the proper maint. Guess I got lucky
 
I was worried about winterizing and then remembered I pulled my GSX out of a snow bank when I bought it. I know it was not winterized and it sat for at least two years. No issues this year with cooling. But I am going to do some basics. A good fog for sure. And maybe some antifreeze. Two will stay in the garage but one may be outside for a while. That one may get a better treatment.
